Wellness is a journey that looks different for everyone. A journey is more than just traveling from point A to point B; it’s about the experiences and insights gained along the way. March is Women’s History Month, and to celebrate, we have been exploring women-led wellness podcasts to help support us all on our journey.

In 2024, while visiting Mexico, Rolanda co-hosted a book club discussion on "Finding Me" by award-winning actress Viola Davis with the Wanderlust Book Club. Viola’s candid retelling of her struggles with recurring fibroids struck a deep chord. An alarming number of Black women experience fibroids at disproportionately high rates, yet the conversations around it often remain in the shadows. Viola's vulnerability mirrored so many experiences of navigating years of discomfort, advocating for better healthcare, and finally, stepping into a space of healing and restoration.

Now, in her post-fibroid era—thriving, healthy, and full of energy—Rolanda’s wellness journey has taken on a new meaning. Crystals have long been used for energy healing, but through recovery, they became more than just beautiful stones. They became tools for transformation. 

Mystic Ascension was no longer just a shop; it became a space for meaningful conversations, empowerment, and relationship building. The podcast Be Well, Sis was brought up in one of those conversations, and it's one we’d like to share with you. Through candid conversations, expert interviews, and vulnerability, Be Well, Sis is highly relatable. 

Healing from the Inside Out

One episode that particularly resonated with us, Embodied Healing: The Journey from Fibroids and Pregnancy Loss to Purposeful Pleasure: Dr. Candice Nicole focused on self-care by way of self-advocacy within the healthcare system and the struggles with recurring fibroids. Advocating for yourself can take many forms—speaking up, seeking second opinions, or exploring treatment options such as uterine artery embolization. So many women suffer in silence without knowing all of their choices, making this discussion both enlightening and necessary.

A key takeaway from this episode was how stress plays a significant role in overall well-being. Research suggests stress may even contribute to conditions like fibroids, reinforcing the need for holistic approaches to well-being. Many have turned to crystals as a tool for energetic support, helping to create a sense of calm and stability. Some incorporate crystals into meditation, others give them as meaningful gifts, and many wear them as bracelets to bring mindfulness into daily life.

As consent facilitator Malika Sunflower says, "We want to keep looking for the right solutions that fit our bodies, and our bodies will tell us ‘yes!’ to the things that work for us or ‘no’ to the things that don’t." Trusting ourselves and listening to our intuition is an essential part of the healing process.
